Overview
Microsoft Human Resources (HR) is seeking an experienced Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) Program Leader to establish and manage the Responsible AI program for the HR Organization. This critical role will lead the overall strategy and team, work with subject matter experts, and ensure ongoing compliance with improvements, drive program maturity, enable scalability, and support alignment with organizational goals.
As part of HR Business Excellence, a global function that provides overall governance, risk management, compliance monitoring, privacy and security assessments, continuity and response services, and accessibility for all of HR, the HR Responsible AI Program Leader will be responsible for developing and implementing an end to end governance program to drive adherence to Responsible AI principles and broader compliance requirements for the HR Organization. The role is a critical enabler working across multiple teams including solution management, IT partners, third parties, and product teams to assess and address critical technical and compliance components for internal deployments and partnership with product teams.

Responsibilities
Lead the overall Responsible AI (RAI) Governance program and team for HR to fulfill the organizations commitments to responsible, ethical, and compliant AI
Build processes to implement and operationalize an Impact Assessment program as a fundamental mechanism for AI compliance evaluation, and leads overall end to end evaluation process, including validating use cases and ensuring comprehensive testing of scenarios/use cases
Provide strategic guidance and assess feature(s)/feature areas (e.g. product, service) for generative AI and other scenarios for risk and compliance against company and regulatory requirements; determine mitigation and/or remediation plans to enable success for product and service components
Define compliance success criteria (Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) & KRs) that demonstrate alignment with RAI requirements as defined by Microsoft's Office of Responsible AI and AI regulations, and provides regular scorecard updates for AI scenarios and generative AI
Distinguish sensitive use cases in the HR context in partnership with Corporate External and Legal Affairs (CELA) and Office of Responsible AI (ORA), and determine any mitigating actions needed from a technical and product perspective
Develop and manage an incident management program, addressing both technical and people impacts for successful remediation
Ensure that specific performance requirements and standards are met throughout the development lifecycle in addition to Responsible AI requirements (e.g., quality, compliance, privacy, security, safety, accessibility).
Respond to requests for inquiries, reports, and audits
Drive RAI awareness and training, from general knowledge to technical guidance
Lead cross-functional teams and partner with HR stakeholders to ensure overall success of HR's RAI Governance program

Qualifications
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
OR equivalent experience.
4+ years people management experience.
3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, product development,
OR equivalent experience.
4+ years people management experience.
8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
MBA, JD or an advanced degree in HR, Risk, Technology, Product/Technical Management, or Operations preferred
Experience establishing and/or leading a compliance or governance program in HR to support technical deployments
Knowledge of Microsoft's Responsible AI principles and ethical considerations, and familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to AI
Technical Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
