Supervises law enforcement and/or other safety and security personnel for an assigned shift and monitors shift activity to ensure actions are in accordance with procedures and applicable laws. Guides and maintains the operation of law enforcement and security related programs and functions. Performs Police Officer patrol tasks as needed.

* Supervises shift personnel including activities, work assignments, development, and evaluation of performance.

* Coordinates the Beat Management program, call responses, and investigations of crime scenes.

* Disseminates information regarding criminal activity, special assignments and safety or security related events to appropriate departmental staff.

* Acts as liaison between the department and the community, providing safety and security information, and initiating and participating in crime prevention presentations.

* Identifies and implements efficiencies in department operations and processes.

* Prepares and distributes various reports; reviews reports written by subordinates for accuracy; and maintains local supervisory files.

* Conducts regular building, uniform and vehicle inspections.

* Participates in periodic training as required.

* Investigates complaints concerning shift personnel.
